Henry & June is one of my favourite films. It is so beautiful. The actress that portraits Anais Nin is Maria de Medeiros, Portuguese. She definitely was the best choice for the part, the resemblance to Nin is remarkable.  When I was a child my classmates used to make fun of me and call me Maria because apparently I looked liked her. Although it was annoying, I never took it as an offence, I always thought she was so cute.
I loved this film for many reasons. Beautiful. Sexy. Enchanting. Real. I get so much inspiration every time I watch it. I wish I could own Anais' full wardrobe. Especially that burnt velvet rusty orange cloche and dress.
You should watch it if you can.

I have not shared photos of my last trip to Japan yet, and well, I might as well do it now. Why not? So, last May I visited Japan for the 3rd time, and it felt so natural and normal, like going back home. I still remembered all the routes and little streets, what trains to get and the right exits of the stations. The weather was lovely, sunny and warm. We first visited my bf’s grandparents house, which is this big old style Japanese house in the country side. It was so quiet there. We had walks at night and, although street lights were almost non-existent in the island, the moonlight only was enough to lit our way. It felt really peaceful.
I then made my way to big Tokyo, where I stayed with friends, went to gigs, ate a lot and spent a lot of money! Living the crazy life. I have a few more shots of Tokyo and the rest is Osaka and Kobe, which I will post some other time.
I basically only used my vintage Konica C35 during the trip and I was so glad with the results. I love shooting with film and this camera is my favourite and probably the cheapest (out of the 5 vintage film cameras I own, haha), it never lets me down and I get results even with the worst light or focus. It is light and compact, so I can carry it in my pocket, if I feel like it. I did not retouch these photos at all, except to add the watermark and round the corners, no need for any other touches, that is the beauty of film photography!

Chic! Model Annabella Barber plays the role of ’50s vixen and soaks in the sights of California with classic looks. Personally I find this shoot to be early 60s, but since it is called Some Like it Hot let’s assume it is late 50s.

A few 50’s interior illustrations for inspiration. I have been collecting these through time, so I haven’t got the source, just be sure credit does not belong to me. In my dreams, I would have a pink bathroom and a baby blue kitchen, a moss green living room and… I haven’t decided on the bedroom colour yet! If I had an office it would be red though.

There’s a few bits and pieces that I add to the flat where I live, a record player, a few analogue cameras, old magazines, vintage reprints, a nice lamp, etc. However, since we always live in rented places I cannot just go and paint the kitchen cabinets or buy much of my own furniture. And the time to move out and find a new nest has come once again. Our landlord is selling the place and we need to move out by the end of April. It is good news in a way that we might be able to find something better, but it is so time consuming to search for a new flat and then comes the dreadful moving day!

How wonderful it would be if we found something like a one of the pictures above for a reasonable price! Fingers crossed!!

Do you watch Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries? I’ve been watching season 1 recently and found it quite entertaining. The mysteries are cliché and I can find many period wrong facts. They could have done so much better with the makeup, I mean, who even wore contour in the 20s? And where’s the blush? Miss Fisher’s bob, although super fab, its so 1960’s Vidal Sassoon that it annoys me every time she’s not wearing a hat. However, despite all these little facts, the series is beautifully filmed and the costumes are to die for. I would kill to have all those pretty cloches!
